This superb house has just been renovated by American owners to a very high standard. It stands in a very large garden but as it is at the end of a road it has unbroken countryside surrounding it. The views of are of gentle hills typical of the foothills of the Appenines. It is only fifteen minutes east of Arezzo from where there are trains to Florence (30 minutes). The tiny villages near I Bassi don't have many facilities but as it is only ten minutes to the outskirts of Arezzo this is not much of a problem. There is a small pizzeria as part of a bar/shop in the nearest village just five minutes from the house. Arezzo has a large commercial area but at its centre is the ancient town built on a steep hillside. Its streets and most buildings date from and before the "quattro centro", the period we call the Renaissance. Its famous works of art include the staggering frescoes of Piero della Francesca in the church of San Francesco made more widely known in the film "The English Patient". The early scenes of "Life is Beautiful" were also filmed mainly in Arezzo. The kitchen is more than complete with a large range cooker - 4 hobs, gas oven and electric oven, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker - all built-in - with a freezer in another area. Off the kitchen is a dining room with original stone fireplace and sitting area. One entrance to the house has been cleverly designed to incorporate the original bread/pizza oven. This area also has a washing machine. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a bathroom - shower, wc, 2 washbasins. On the upper floor are: Large double
bedroom with bathroom - wc, bath, 2 basins, shower. The grounds have a deep pool (11x5m) set in a terrace area from where the land falls away in grassy banks. There is a tree house and a "tyre" rope swing for teenagers up to 70 years old. Around the house there is enough level ground for kicking a ball around and for establishing different kinds of activity and relaxation.
